My friend, I see you.
I see you living your busy life. Working the 9-5, and trying to get in your dose of exercise here and there. Trying to eat more fruits and veggies and limit the wine and chocolate. Knowing what you should be doing to stay healthy, but having a hard time keeping all of the balls up in the air.
I see you doing EVERYTHING but nothing consistently. You haven't really honed in or focused on YOU lately.
When was the last time you crushed a goal?
You know you want that feeling of accomplishment, but don't quite know how to get there.
You know you want to reach out of your comfort zone, but are scared to make that leap all on your own.
Your motivation and confidence is low...You need someone or something to keep you accountable, and that app didn't quite cut it last time.
You are finally at the point where you feel enough is enough but even the idea of trying to figure out where to start is overwhelming.
My friend, I sure am glad you found me.
Because I feel your struggle.
I was a serious athlete for many years. But now I am immersed in a new world of diaper changes and sleeping schedules and…and I forgot all about that feeling of training hard, competing (even with myself) and craving more!
After my first babe, I looked in the mirror and wondered "who am I now"? I knew I had to embrace being a parent AND get that piece of me back that I loved so much, the Ellan who set and achieved fitness goals. Whether they were big (training for a varsity rugby season) or small (doing a chin up), I at least felt like I was moving forward, working consistently, and most importantly, moving towards a goal that was realistic and achievable. I needed something that would propel me forward and help me love this newfound person and life.
I went back to an old running coach and asked for a 5k running plan.
And so slowly, I started running a few steps at a time.
It felt completely different, and not in a good way.
But I kept telling myself, "It will never be this hard again. Next run will be easier."
And slowly, but surely, I started to feel like myself again.
And so slowly, but surely, I was enjoying the process and watching my 5k goal get closer and closer.
And before I knew it, I was holding my baby at the finish line.
And now, I want to take you on the same ride.

"I’ve always wanted to be a runner but never believed it was possible. This program changed that. With a very small commitment and some dedication I was able to complete several 5+ km runs. The 3 run per week schedule was achievable and fit with my full time work schedule. I enjoyed the pace and our teacher Ellan was amazing. I really enjoyed the support and inspiration from the group. The group environment really helped to motivate and inspire me.” |
Here's what you get when you join the learn to run program:
1. Facebook Group
Upon enrolling, you will be added to a private Facebook group. Meet the other runners who are working on their fitness dreams, connect over the wins and challenges, vent, celebrate, ask questions, and cheer on your fellow goalgetters!
2. Education and Information
Yes, running is putting one foot in front of the other, but before we hit the road we want to make sure you are ready. This means week #1 is prep week. You will learn about proper warm up, cool down, running form and footwear. We use video and Facebook live sessions, so you have the chance to ask questions. Education continues throughout the program.
3. Weekly Run Plan
Week two is when the rubber hits the road! You will be provided your weekly run schedule every Sunday. You will need to complete 3 runs per week to achieve your final 5k goal.
4. Live Sessions & Events
Throughout the program I hop on Facebook live and talk about the challenges, wins, and answer any questions that have been sent my way. I also add in events, such as cross training workouts and run challenges. Cause who doesn't love a good challenge now and then??!
5. Final Goal Race
Whether you do your goal race on your own, virtually through our program, or through a organized event (hopefully permitted soon!), I will make sure you are prepped and ready. AND, I will definitely help celebrate you WIN!! This is really the best part of my job! I get to live vicariously through YOU!
6. The biggest part: ACCOUNTABILITY
This is the part that makes the Learn to Run Program the best there is - something that a robot or app can't quite offer. You get a weekly email from me checking in on your progress and check-ins through the Facebook group. Which means I will reach out if I see you are falling behind a bit and see how we can tweak things to get you back on track.
AND the wicked awesome Facebook group mentioned above will give you that extra ‘YOU CAN DO THIS!’ from running friends who are going through this journey with you.

"This was a really good thing I did for myself. I didn't think I'd need a group atmosphere to get me back into running, but WOW, I was SO happy that I did it! The encouragement and support is AWESOME! |
" I always wanted to pick up running but I always told myself I couldn’t do it. My first run was the hardest but I stuck with it and I reached my goal of running 5k, something I never thought I could accomplish! It was great having the program to follow and I loved being able to do it alone on my time with the online support. My confidence has changed and I now consider myself a runner! Thank you Ellan!!" - Ellen C - |
