ms fit run club
based in sarnia, on
So you’ve been running, but you'd love a little help. A shakeup.
Some company. Some accountability. Some encouragement.
I hear you, my friend.
You're putting in the miles, but you're getting a little bored out there on your own. Your motivation is lacking and you aren't hitting that sweet "runners high".
Sometimes it is nice to have company. A group setting to help keep you accountable and motivated. Maybe even give you a little kick in the butt. Or share a post-run beer!
Perhaps one of the best things about running is that in can build community, friendships and help develop grit.
(Come run with me and I will tell you all about how my last run club saved me when I first moved to Sarnia and knew nobody.)
I believe strongly in the power of a good run and a good supportive running community.
And, that's why I have created the Ms Fit Run Club. A social run club for runners in the Sarnia area.

What does a typical Run Club workout look like?
This is a casual, relaxed pace run, and is a great shake-out/catch-up for the week. We never leave anyone behind and regroup at all intersections/turning points. This group will be about getting out and having fun. There will definitely be stops for photos, and dog petting.
If you are new to running - I recommend being able to run continuously for 15 minutes before joining the Ms Fit Run Club. If you aren't there yet, no worries, the Learn to Run program will get you running 5k comfortably in just 10 weeks. Please consider joining the next session of the Learn to Run program!
- We always start with a dynamic stretching warm up.
- We then head out for our core running segment of the workout, which centers around the 5k distance.
- Post-run the group will do 10-15 minutes of strength work focused on your core and other key running muscles.
- We wrap up with a cool-down stretch.
- Plan on 75 - 90 minutes for the whole workout.

Run Club facebook group
This group is a private group for individuals who have completed the Ms Fit Learn to Run program or are members of the local Sarnia Ms Fit Run Club.
All group members (virtual and local) receive running tips/info, periodic cross training workouts and run plans.
And, the BEST part - Accountability and connecting with other runners who are working on their fitness dreams. Connect over the wins and challenges, vent, celebrate, ask questions, and cheer on your fellow running friends!

"The 3 run per week schedule was achievable and fit with my full time work schedule. I enjoyed the pace and our teacher Ellan was amazing. I really enjoyed the support and inspiration from the group. The group environment really helped to motivate and inspire me.”
- Jenn W -
"I am now able to run 5km with less difficulty and I can run shorter distances faster. I really enjoyed having a group for support! The best part was the Wednesday selfies! I loved seeing everyone's progress. It helped motivate me to keep going."
- Jessica K -
"I didn't think I'd need a group atmosphere to get me back into running, but WOW, I was SO happy that I did it! The encouragement and support is AWESOME!"

Join the ms fit run club
For April, May, June 2021 there will be no charge to join the run club.
This will be re-assessed June 2021.
This will be re-assessed June 2021.
This Run Club is:
- A community of runners motivating each other to stay active. Movement is the name of this game!
- For people in good health. Please consult with your doctor if you have concerns.
- A friendly and non-judgmental environment. Okay, I might judge you if your beer of choice is Coors Light.
- A cooperative place to meet people and have fun (virtually and in-person). You will be kicked out if you're not kind.
- Free for anyone to try, regardless of age or gender.
Being a member of a club has its perks:
- We attend races together! Coordinated races means having someone to hold your things while you use the port-a-potty.
- You meet fellow runners and learn from their mistakes. For example, learn what to eat before your race so you don’t end up having a follow-through on the course.
- You have an excuse to match outfits with people and look really cool.
- You have someone to laugh with, chat with and cry (happy tears preferably) with!
Seriously, my friend. what are you waiting for?

Will this Run Club continue all winter?
I am training for further distances, can I still join?
- Ideally, the Run Club will continue throughout the winter. But, we do live in Canada and sometimes running outdoors is simply not realistic. In the case of bad weather (any time of year) a Facebook Live workout will take place instead of an in-person run.
I am training for further distances, can I still join?
- Most definitely! The group run may serve as your weekly "easy" run, or you may join us and complete the warm up, strength work and cool down with the group but do your core running workout solo.
